I first came into contact with bodywork while working as a lighting technician at Glastonbury festival in 1992. I had severe back pain and a healer worked on me and the work allowed me to finish my work and enjoy the festival. My curiosity was tweaked.
The following year I studied aromatherapy and holistic massage. I loved to travel and massage was a good skill to integrate and begin a new career path. I stopped over in Thailand in 1995 and received the ancient bodywork of that country from old masters. I had never felt as good as I did after that bodywork. I had to learn these new techniques!! I did some study and returned the following year for a longer stay. I have returned annually to Chiang Mai since that first trip. Studying for long periods as an apprentice to masters of the art. Going deeper with the techniques and learning more and more about the energy of the body. I have also practiced yoga on and off for 20 odd years and chi kung in the last few years . Both give me deeper insight into the Thai massage systems and feeling energy and energy blocks generally. In the last few years I have concentrated study on Abdominal work and the Chinese Abdominal Massage of Chi Nei Tsang. I realised through my own experience and having worked on thousands of clients that the stomach holds so much emotional energy and the blocks here can cause dis-ease in the body. I dedicate my work to my teachers, Mama Nit Chaimongkhon & Pichest Boonthumme, my fellow travellers and practitioners in the healing arts of Asia, and the people of Asia particularly Thailand and India from whom I have learnt so much. |
